Some updated information on the call for proposals for research traineeships that we distributed about two weeks ago. We attach a form (in word format) that you can use for submitting your proposals; the form also contains some hints regarding specific details you may want to include in your application. As a reminder, we attach the original call as well. Note that the deadline for submission is November 30, and that we aim to have decisions on the proposals by mid December.

In the mean time, we have also formed a small scientific committee who will assess and rank the submitted proposals. That committee consists of representatives of our 3 departments, namely Ad Backus (DCU), Jan Sprenger (DFI) and Emiel Krahmer (DCI).  We are currently also constructing a website with detailed and updated information on this initiative. We will inform you about the website in the course of the next few weeks.

To all staff members of the School of Humanities at TiU

We would like to inform you about an upcoming, faculty-internal call for project proposals, which would allow successful applicants to hire students as research trainees. This initiative is the successor of what used to be known as the “KNAW Academy Assistants” program, originally started and coordinated by Ad Backus. The current call is similar to the previous one, except for the fact that it more explicitly aims to sponsor projects that consist of genuine collaborations between members of different departments of our faculty. We hope to obtain collaborative projects between, each time, staff members of 2 departments (DCI, DFI, DCU) who would be given the joint responsibility to supervise 2 research trainees (resulting in at least 4 members per project). The project proposals should also specify how the collaboration would lead to a joint result (e.g. a joint publication between the different members of the project).
